Gen 1 - Chapter 2 - Fairies, Paparazzi, and a Surprise

Fairies, Paparazzi, and a Surprise!

It was winter in Red Cliffs! And things were starting to look up for Delilah Devereaux! She was thoroughly enjoying the snow, as she hadn't ever seen any before!

She also got a promotion! Her boss felt she had enough experience to become a freelance writer. She was thrilled! With that promotion came a nice bonus, and with that came her very first car! It was a beater, sure, but she loved it!

Her new work attire was a little odd, as she sort of looked like a detective with a weird hat. But, she was so happy that she wore it practically ALL the time. She had a lot of research to do for her new freelance work, so she spent a lot of time with her nose buried in a book.

That being said, Delilah slowly came to realize that she was lonely. She only had a couple of friends here, and definitely nobody that was more than that. After reading an ad in her local paper, she decided she would try placing a profile on the local dating website. She carefully planned it out and a couple hours later it was up. She was excited!

As if it had read her mind, a black stray cat appeared in the yard a couple of nights later. Delilah saw it on her way out to get the mail and immediately went to it. It warmed right up to her, and even let her pick her up! Delilah checked for any identification, and upon finding none she decided to keep the poor cat.

She named her Jynx! Jynx was pretty old and would be elderly in a short time, and she mostly just slept in different places around the house. With that promotion bonus, even after the car, Delilah was able to get her a scratch house, which she dubbed Jynx's Fortress of Nap.

With her spirits lifted, Delilah went back to going out on the weekends. She really wanted to make some more friends. She decided to brave the club where she had seen the zombie (she finally did google that thing, and being the brave soul she was thought that it was no big deal), and whad'ya know! She met a fairy! Natasja Bell. After the inital shock, she decided it was cool and she should talk to her. They hit it off right away and danced and played darts.

After the club, they went to the movie theater to see Simville: A History. Booooring. But, she enjoyed being out. And by the end, she was really glad she went, because she met someone! Jamie Carnes had joined their group halfway through, and after introducing himself quite charmingly, they whispered through the whole thing! As he left the theater, he even held her hand for a moment!

She was thrilled, but she had forgotten to get his number! Darn! She would have to get it from Natasja. However, she appeared to have been left by herself at the theater! Great friends.

That's when she heard the click. She whipped her head around to find THIS guy taking a picture of her! What! She was about to ask what he thought he was doing when he dashed off. Weird!

As she was trying to find her way home, she ran into a woman that looked just like Natasja. It turns out it was her mother, Melody Bell. She had come to apologize to Delilah on behalf of Natasja, who had gotten a migraine and left early. Delilah thought that was kind of her. She also noticed Melody was a fairy as well. She would have to google that! Before saying goodbye, though, she saw that same guy again! He was watching them a few yards away and taking notes. She was irritated now. She yelled at him and he dashed off again. Why would somebody want to have her picture and know things about her? She was not even known in this town. She felt a little strange being out in public after that.

For the holidays, she decided to throw a party! She had it at her house, as she was still leery of going outside. She was very excited, and everyone that she invited came! All was going well until Melody arrived. All the guests stared at her and Jamie even had a small fit! She didn't realize that nobody liked her. Oops.

Things went from bad to worse. She had met someone online, Garrett Champagne. She invited him in hopes that they might hit it off in person. She never got Jamie's number and they hadn't talked much since, so she hadn't really pursued him. Garrett, however, brought an uninvited guest to the party. His wife! Delilah threw him out immediately. The party ended soon after and she felt bummed.

Not all was lost, though. She got yet another promotion at work! She was now a professional blogger, and she was loving it. She had to start interviewing people for stories...

and digging through the trash. Yeah, she isn't sure why she agreed to that, but here she is! She got a particularly juicy article from this dig on her neighbor, Edith Bartleby. Let's just say Delilah won't be invited to a block party anytime soon.

To celebrate her new promotion, and to distract from her latest romance failure, Delilah found Jamie's number and invited him over. Finally, it went quite well.

Very well, actually.

It went well for over a month! And then....it all came crashing down.

Generation 1 - Chapter 1

The Devereaux Legacy

Meet Delilah Mae Devereaux. She had grown up the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devereax, owners of a large hotel chain. Her childhood was rich both financially and emotionally. Nobody could have seen her ending up anywhere other than the next wealthy, happy person in line for the family business. Unfortunately, sometimes the unthinkable happens. When Delilah was 17 years old her parents were killed in a horrible accident. It was very tragic and left Delilah lost and alone. As if that wasn't enough, her parents had never gotten around to the paperwork and the family business (more like empire) was auctioned off to greedy businessmen. Delilah had no family and had to live in a group home until she was 18 and could be sent off on her own. When that time came, she decided that her town had too many bad memories now. She set off to find a better place to live. Eventually, she ended up in a town called Red Cliffs.

Delilah had a little bit of money that she was given to help with her "grieving period". She used that money to purchase what was probably the smallest house in the entire town. It had one main room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. She had just enough left over to get her the basic furniture, and even an old computer from the pawn shop. Fitting to her situation, it was raining when she arrived.

Instead of moping around, Delilah had gotten the mindset that she needed to get moving. She wanted to start over and make a successful life for herself. Where should she start? One thing she needed was a job. But what? After pondering for awhile, Delilah thought she might pursue a career in the journalism career. She was a good writer, it was a passion actually. So, she hopped on the crappy old desktop (which had a floppy disk drive, how lame) and found an opening at the local news station. It was crappy hours, crappy pay, but a start!

Next, she thought she should get acquainted with the town a little. She had remembered to sign up for the newspaper when she got here, so she started there. She scanned the ads to get a feel of what stores were around, read articles about the school and other events, and finally checked out the hotspots section. She thought it might be a good idea to go out that night. She wasn't super social, but she didn't want to be alone.

She also tacked cooking her first meal by herself. Waffles, something easy. She managed to not burn anything and didn't even make a mess.

After awhile she decided to brave the town. She started with the park and consignment shop across the street. In the shop she immediately struck up a conversation with the owner, Valarie Grant. It was a strange conversation, Delilah kept talking about the weather at the same time as Valarie's interests in Delilah. Quite odd. Anyways, the hit it off quite well!

At the park, she met a fellow named Anthony March. After an awkward introduction (Anthony has a stalker it appears), they talked about each other for a minute.

But, Delilah got a phone call from work. Anthony did NOT appreciate that, and that was the end of that conversation. They probably won't be BFFs.

That night, Delilah went out as decided earlier. However, when she reached the small bar down the street, she was given quite a scare. She was met by this woman, who appeared to have just been beat up! The woman grunted frequently and kept staring at Delilah like she was a hamburger.

Delilah was about to say hello (she's brave like that, okay) when the girl dove into the ground and disappeared! What the holy heck! Delilah had a small panic attack and immediately called a cab to go to a new destination. She would be googling this bar when she got home.

She asked the cab to take her to the nearest hotspot. Luckily, the cab driver got this request a lot and she was whisked off to a trendy club. It was called Liquidity and was actually more of a spa/pool/dance floor type thing. It was not, however a hotspot. Nobody was there! She decided to stay anyways because they had let her in for free for some promo that she immediately forgot the name of. She wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.

She walked around for awhile and then spotted a section that had these gorgeous rock hot tubs. She wanted in. Yeah, she had her bathing suit in her pocket or something. She bounced up to the door, which was surrounded by red ropes. She had indeed had a rich lifestyle growing up, but it was in the country and she had never seen something like this before. She asked the woman guarding it if she need a pass and was told yes. She asked how to get one, and the woman just gave her a once over and said "Come back when you are famous." Delilah was furious and left immediately.

She found her way down to the beach by the club. Still steaming from her treatment at the club, she picked up some rocks and flung them into the sea. It was nice to finally live near the sea, and she felt relaxed right away.

As she stood in the incoming tide her mind wandered back to writing. She didn't have money. She had no friends, not even a pet! And she had no idea what to do with her life. But she could always write. And that's what she was gonna do.

The next morning was her first day at work! She hopped out of bed, made a delicious breakfast, and was sure it was gonna be a great day! And then, she broke the toilet. Awesome.

Despite that morning's incident, she headed off to work in high spirits. She met her co-workers and even worked a little late to get some extra experience. And it paid off. She came home with a promotion! She was now a grammar editor (or something, she never remembers official titles)! Her hopes were growing, and she knew this was the right place to be.
